Bare Minerals Bare Pro Performance Wear Liquid Foundation

Bare Minerals is one of those brands that was never really on my make up radar, until recently when they launched their Gen Nude lip colour collection. I love a good nude, and the variety of nudes and finishes is right up my street. I'm currently on my second tube of their 'Forbidden' lipgloss, I might even go as far as saying it's my favourite lipgloss ever.

They've recently launched a new liquid version of their popular Bare Pro pressed powder foundation, and it promises to improve the texture of skin over time, interesting!

Bare Pro promises:
  • Blurring of pores
  • 24 hour breathable wear
  • Full coverage
  • Transfer resistant
  • Natural matte, soft focus finish
  • Improvement of skin texture over time
  • SPF 20 (You still need sun protection even if you don't live in a sunny climate!)

I was kindly given a sample of shade 16, a medium shade with a yellow undertone, perfect for when I am wearing tan which is every day of my life. On application, the first thing I noticed was how much coverage you get from one layer. It covers everything that needs covered and evens out the rest without looking heavy, think full coverage without the cake. I used my favourite foundation brush to apply it, the Blank Canvas F20, and it buffed it on like a dream.

The shade looked slightly pale in the pot, but it actually got slightly darker on me once it had dried so it became a perfect shade to match in with my neck. I really like the finish of this foundation, as it's glowy without being shiny, and matte enough to look natural but not dry.

This foundation lasted all day on my skin, I did have to powder later in the day, but I have to do this with most foundations. I always think foundation looks better once you've had it on for a while, and this was no exception.

Wearing shade 16

I had no problem with setting it, applying bronzer over the top, or blending out my blusher, this foundation provided a smooth base for even application of everything else. This would make both a great night out foundation, or a good daytime make up if you prefer full coverage all the time. As for the claim of improving skin's texture over time, I can't vouch for that just yet, but it would be a huge bonus if it were to deliver on this.

If you're interested in trying this foundation, pop into your nearest Bare Minerals counter to get colour matched. I received my sample from the Debenhams Foyleside counter, where all the staff are really helpful and knowledgeable about what would suit different skin types best.

The Bare Minerals Bare Pro Liquid retails for £29.
