Sleek Lifeproof Foundation

Sleek is one of those brands that create good quality products for a reasonable price, and after the massive success of their contour kit, they really took off. They also carry a huge shade range and cater to both the fairest and deepest of skintones, which is quite impressive as not many 'drugstore' brands tend to stock such a variety.

They have recently launched their 'Lifeproof Foundation'; oil free, medium to full coverage, sweat-proof, and available in 24 shades. Again, their shade range puts other affordable brands to shame. They've even grouped all colours into families, so you can choose from fair, light, medium, medium deep, and deep. The shades within each group also range from pink, to neutral, to yellow/olive undertones, which makes it easier to find your perfect match.

'Lifeproof' promises a seamless, long lasting coverage, that brightens dull skin and creates a silky, velvet finish. I tested this foundation using my usual Smashbox Photo Finish Light Primer underneath, then applied the foundation and set it with my everyday setting powder from Kat Von D. I do this with every foundation I use so I thought it would be a fair way to try it.

I bought the shade LP09, which is from the medium family and has olive undertones. I initially applied the Sleek foundation with my dampened beauty sponge, but it didn't do too good of a job blending it out, and it looked slightly patchy and uneven. I then switched to my Blank Canvas F20 which is a flat top kabuki brush, and buffed the foundation into my skin. This method worked much better and created an even finish. I patted over the top of the foundation with the dampened sponge afterwards to push the product into the skin, and it looked great. It also dries quickly and leaves my skin feeling velvety soft, no tackiness in sight and it doesn't feel gloopy or heavy.

Here is a photo in natural light just after I had applied it:

Let's not talk about my lack of eye make up.

In terms of coverage, it can definitely be built up as I have a small blemish on my left cheek and I applied extra in this area to cover it. I don't feel like I had to use a lot of product to achieve the coverage I like either. One thing I don't like about this foundation is the packaging. It looks great, but I have to keep my tube upside down as the product leaks into the lid and creates a mess, plus when you take the lid off, the foundation basically comes out itself. So it isn't an ideal product for travelling as by the time you get to your destination, it will probably have collected inside the lid.

I have an oily chin and nose so I am always having to blot my skin during the day or apply some extra powder, this doesn't seem to go as shiny or feel as sticky on my chin when others would after some wear.

After wearing the foundation for near enough 10 hours, I was really quite impressed with it's longevity and finish after such a long day. I did have some oiliness on my chin but I get that with every foundation, and the it didn't start to separate or go patchy. Overall, I really like this new launch from Sleek and although it won't replace my beloved Too Faced Born This Way, it does make a great every day, budget friendly foundation.

Available at Boots for £8.99.
