March Favourites

It may be April, but it feels like November because I don't think anyone has informed Mother Nature that it's now spring. Anyway, here are some products I've been really loving over the last month, some longer, that you could treat yourself to if the weather is getting you down.

First up, is the Eyeko Me & My Shadow Waterproof Liner. I bought this after seeing someone use it on Instagram, and I love it. I purchased the shade Chocolate, and used it as a base for my sparkly green eyeshadow look in my latest beauty lookbook post. I pressed the green shades from the Urban Decay Moondust palette over the top and it didn't crease or fade throughout the day. It also made the green really pop! You can of course use it as an eyeliner too, and there's even a brush on the other end for smudging. Perfect!

Another great product I have really been enjoying this month is the OFRA Cosmetics Glazed Donut Highlighter. This is the most intense highlighter I own, and I got it after seeing Keilidh Cashell using it in one of her YouTube videos. She tapped it lightly over Becca Champagne Pop, and it gives such an amazing glow. Even though it is beaming, it doesn't look like it's sitting on top of your skin. I am obsessed.

I fell out of love with liquid lipstick for a while as I was fed up of having dry, flakey lips. That was until I discovered the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink Liquid Lipsticks. These stay put allllllllll day, even when I have eaten. I think they are the only ones that don't break up on my lips after a while, and although they require a bit of work to get off at the end of the day, I really don't mind because they are pretty much bulletproof and come in so many gorgeous colours.

While I love a matte lip colour, I also have really liked wearing lipgloss and shiny lipstick. This L'Oreal Color Riche Shine in the shade 642 is the perfect nude colour. I love wearing a nude lip liner and this over the top for a really fresh and glossy look. The packaging is also very aesthetically pleasing.

A more recent purchase but one that has quickly become a favourite is Mary-Dew Manizer from The Balm. I am a huge fan of their powder highlighter, Mary-Lou Manizer, and this is just the liquid version. It's so handy as you can use the applicator to draw it onto your face and then blend it out with your fingers. It reminds me slightly of the Iconic London liquid highlighter, although it's definitely not as intense. The packaging would make it great for travel, and I'll probably take it with me when I'm in Edinburgh next month, as I don't want to chance taking my glass bottle of Iconic highlighting drops.

I was struggling to find a black gel liner that stayed black throughout the day when I decided to give the Inglot 77 liner a try. This stuff is so pigmented that you have to be quite careful as you can end up looking a bit panda eyed, but once it's on it stays black and it is easy to smudge out if you work quickly before it sets. I also saw Keilidh Cashell use it to stop a watery eye ruining your eyeshadow. She recommended placing a small bit in the outer corner of your eye where it's watering and because it's waterproof, it basically plugs the corner of your eye and stops the water. I've tried it and it does work!

I am always on the lookout for a good anti-ageing eye cream, and managed to swipe this Estee Lauder one from my mum who got it in a free gift after buying Double Wear. The Revitalizing Supreme + Eye Balm soaks into my eye area really quickly considering it isn't a thin consistency, and it leaves my skin feeling really soft and hydrated. I am considering buying the full size as it feels lovely and luxurious and will hopefully keep the fine lines at bay.

If you follow me on Instagram you may be aware of my skin burning drama. I recently used something on my face that caused me to come out in a red, bumpy rash that was not only very sore, but very, very dry. I don't have sensitive skin, nor do I suffer from dry patches, so I was quite surprised my skin reacted the way it did. I still don't fully know what it was but I do know I am going to be much more careful about what I put on my face and what products I use together.

Anyway, working in a beauty hall has its advantages as the lady from the Origins counter heard my skin saga and recommended I try some of the Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief range. At that stage I was willing to try anything, and that evening I used the micellar water to cleanse my rash and a lotion to moisturise the area. The next day I woke up looking like a new girl. I was so impressed, as the redness had reduced, the dry, flakey skin was more moisturised and the texture had definitely improved. I then discovered my mum had a full sized pot of the face cream so I have been using it religiously morning and night to maintain the moisture levels in my skin, and I am so thankful that I tried it.

There's still a tiny patch of dry skin but the Mega-Mushroom Relief really improved the appearance and gave me a bit of my confidence back. Apparently it's great for eczema prone skin, or skin that becomes dry and irritated easily. If this sounds all too familiar, I really do recommend giving it a try, it's not the cheapest product but the results really speak for themselves.

Now for a perfume favourite! I am a Chanel Chance Eau Tendre fanatic, so I have to really like something to wear anything else. I received some Jo Malone goodies at Christmas and there was a sample size of the Peony & Blush Suede Cologne in the bag. It was love at first spritz, and I set out on a mission to get the full size. I also have the Jenny Glow dupe version which does smell exactly the same, but there's just something about wearing the real thing. It's sweet, fresh and super girly and I absolutely love it.

Lastly, is a palette that I think might just be my favourite palette ever. Do you ever buy a palette and it has a few colours that you know you'll probably never use? Well, the Lime Crime Venus XL contains 18 shades I know I will most definitely use. It's right up my street with hot pinks, pinky nudes, deep plum, and warm browns. The colours basically blend themselves as they apply so smoothly, there's really no work in it, and they stay vibrant throughout the day. I just cannot get enough of it. You can read my full, more detailed review of it right here.

So that's all my favourites for this month. Can I just reiterate how much I love the Lime Crime palette? It's amazing! Anyway, if you have any products you've been loving recently, feel free to leave a comment below. I love any excuse to try new things!
